PROBLEM
Planning your itinerary for a trip can be overwhelming.
Not only is there an endless list of recommendations to sort through, but you also have to find the most optimal routes to get to each location. This can be especially stressful for travelers who might not have access to a car and intend to rely on walking or public transportation.
MakeMyDay, an walking itinerary planning app
After the user inputs their starting location, MakeMyDay will return highly rated locations within walking distance. Users can then select to add to their itinerary, and the app will give the most ideal walking route.

What I Learned
Finding Balance in Vibe Coding
This project gave me the opportunity to experiment with vibe coding on Gemini and Claude. While I did have a coding background, there were still aspects of my app that I didn’t feel equipped in implementing, and these AI tools helped fill in these gaps in knowledge. However, I did occasionally get responses that broke my code or didn’t make any sense, so I’m still trying to find that balance in coding independently and incorporating AI.
Expanded Understanding of Development
With AI beginning to blur the lines of different roles within Product, this project was a great opportunity to step into the shoes of a Developer and also explore potentially a designer’s expanded role. While this project was on a small scale, I was able to have a better understanding of what building both front end and back end of an application looks like.
